Valentine's Day is right around the corner...can't you just feel the love in the air? My favorite school party when I was a kid was our Valentine's party. I loved decorating my Valentine box, deciding which card to give to each of my friends, and most of all, I loved making gifts for my teachers. My little girl, Kate loves it just as much as I do, so this year, she is making some cute Valentine's Day Craft Teacher Gift Boxes to fill with candy for her teachers! Here is how we made ours...
We gathered our supplies...a paper mache house box and Apple Barrel Craft Paint in some of our favorite colors. These paints are fantabulous! They go on smoothly, dry quickly, and are water based...which means easy cleanup for Kate and I. We chose to use Canary Yellow, White and Aquamarine instead of the typical red and pink just for fun!
First we painted the entire house/box white. It took two coats, and since the paint dries so quickly, it took less than 10 minutes for both coats and drying time.
Next, we took a ruler and traced it all the way around to get a nice stripe. We simply painted the stripe yellow...no need for perfection here :)
For the heart, we used a heart shaped paper punch to make a small stencil.
Kate placed the stencil on the stripe and I dabbed on some Aquamarine paint with a pouncer. To finish it off, I lightly wrote the word love in cursive with a pencil, then traced over it with the Aquamarine with a thin paint brush.
Kate filled it with chocolate kisses and a fun little box of candy that says UR GR8...cute, right? She can't wait to give it to her teacher, Mrs. White! Will you be making gifts for your teachers this year?
