I have adored all of the chevron pillows I have seen everywhere. They can get a little pricey, and you know me, I like to make my own pillows whenever possible. When I was given the chance to use and review a stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils, I immediately knew which one I wanted to try! I have been working on Kate's Cottage Bedroom for the past month, and revealed it last week. Well, even though I thought it was finished, we ended up getting a new bed for ourselves, which meant Cam got our queen, and Kate inherited his full bed. Well...that meant she needed a few more pillows. So, I decided to make a cute chevron pillow to match the rest of her bedding.
Before starting, I put a large piece of plastic down on my kitchen floor. I then laid out a large piece of white canvas fabric and laid my chevron stencil on top of it.
I used a stenciling brush to dab my paint on. I started by dabbing my paint on the outer edges and working my way to the middle.
I then let the paint dry, but pulled my stencil up before the paint was completely dry to keep it from bleeding underneath the stencil.
I cut my fabric in the shape of a standard bed pillow and turned it right side in to sew around 3 sides. I then turned it right side out and slid a pillow in. I decided to make a cute fabric flower for a little extra detail. I love the way this pillow turned out...stenciling pillows is so easy and inexpensive...it's one of my absolute favorite things to do!
