    Springy Pom Pom Heart

    by Jessica 23 Comments

I am pom pom obsessed right now.  It started last weekend when I was decorating my Valentine's Mantel Inspired By The Notebook, went a little further with my Ruffled Burlap Valentine's Wreath, then reached it's final landing place today with this cute springy pom pom heart...the perfect addition to my mantel.  This was one of those accidental crafts.  I had gone to the Dollar Tree to find something for the Valentine's Party (Dollar Tree Style) going on right now at Fox Hollow Cottage and Debbiedoo's, and grabbed up some extra supplies while I was there.  Well, I had a completely different craft in mind for that.  Fate decided on this instead.  I was walking by my stash of Dollar Tree goodies and picked up one of the pieces of floral wire, and my hands started bending it into the shape of a heart...the rest is history.

Here is what you will need...pom poms (or cotton balls), floral wire, and hot glue.

Bend your wire in half, but leave it rounded.

Poke the wire through a pom pom and push it all the way down to the bend.

Keep stringing on the pom poms, then repeat on the other side.

Once you have reached both ends, shape your pom pom strung wire like a heart....just start bending and play with it a bit.  Then take your hands and make a bend at each end, then hook together.  Push the pom poms over the bend.

Take another piece of floral wire and twist it around a dowel or pencil, leaving a little room at each end.

Take the top end and twist it around the bottom bend of your heart.  I placed a dab of hot glue there to hold it still, then hot glued one pom over that.

Now you can stick your little springy pom pom heart in whatever you like...I used my little wooden spools, but you could stick one in some floral foam and put it in a vase, cup, flower pot...get creative!

It's the perfect addition to my mantel!

I'm sharing at the Valentine's Linky Party (Dollar Tree Style)!
