I love making homemade teacher gifts each year. I think a gift that is made by hand says that you care enough to spend your time and energy making it. It simply means you care. Each year, Kate and I make ornaments for her teachers, but this year I wanted to do something different. I made these simple stenciled snowflake hot chocolate mug and bowl to complete a fun gift for her teachers. Here’s what I did…
I started with a plain white mug and bowl from Target. I used my Silhouette cutting machine to make a sticky snowflake stencil…you can totally use a regular stencil. I started by sticking it on my mug.
Then I used a small dauber to dab some glass friendly paint on the mug.
I peeled the stencil off and let the paint dry…cute already, huh?
I wanted to make a matching bowl to go along with my gift idea, so I made smaller snowflake stencils to around it.
I picked up some of my favorite snacks from Target while I was there. I grabbed some Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate, Orville Redenbacher’s Popcorn, and Slim Jims.
I tucked the hot chocolate packets into the mug along with some candy canes, then added some popcorn packets and Slim Jim’s into the bowl. I put some crinkled paper in a gift box, added the mug and bowl full of goodies, then threw in a couple of handmade ornaments too!
I mean, what teacher wouldn’t love to settle in during Christmas break with a nice mug of hot chocolate and some popcorn? I used to be a teacher, and I can tell you for certain, this would have been a hit with me!

Happy Holidays!
Wow! This is such a beautiful gift. Love it. What paint did you use for the mug that is glass friendly?
Thank you, Mary! I used DecoArt’s Gloss Enamels. It is wonderful!!!
What kind of paint did you use? I need product recommendations for something dishwasher/microwave safe for a project like this!
I used DecoArt Gloss Enamels … you have to bake it for 30 minutes to make sure it won’t come off, but it’s super simple to use :)
