The area under our kitchen sinks is where most of us store our cleaning supplies. Use these Under the Kitchen Sink Cabinet Organization Tips to get yours organized with ease!
One of the areas in our homes that often gets overlooked is the cabinet area under our kitchen sinks. Most people use this area to store cleaning supplies, trash bags and dish detergent. It’s easy for this area to get cluttered and messy pretty quickly, and this area also tends to host lots of moisture. Getting your kitchen sink cabinet organized will make finding what you need easier, and will also help to minimize spills and keep your cleaning supplies in order. Here are a few simple tips you can use to organize your cleaning supplies under the kitchen sink.
If you are here from our Home Cleaning and Organizing Facebook Group, welcome! If you haven’t joined our group yet, and want to learn more about it, you can find all of the information about our Home Cleaning and Organizing Group HERE! We just got started last week and are already up to over 1,000 amazing members who are already helping each other by answering cleaning questions, sharing tips and encouraging each other. We started our first challenge on Tuesday, and have already covered cleaning our refrigerators, cleaning and organizing our countertops, and I shared my new 3 Ingredient All-Purpose Cleaning Spray too. Together we are getting our homes cleaned and organized one small step at a time. Participation is not required if you join.
My favorite item under our kitchen sink is a small plastic drawer system. I use mine to store dish tablets, cleaning cloths, Magic Eraser sponges, and scrub sponges. It’s also great because I can store something on top of it.
Another great way to add storage space is to place a tension rod that spans the width of your cabinet. Place it as high as you can in the cabinet so you can hang spray bottles and free up the bottom of your cabinet for other items.
I also love using the tension rod to hang my scrub brushes, cleaning gloves and a pocket to store any damp sponges I have used so they can dry out.
Underneath the hanging spray bottles, I store the rest of my cleaning supplies that cannot be hung. This is where I keep our floor polish, concentrated cleaners, sink scrub, dog shampoo and our trash bags.
With the use of the drawer system and the tension rod, I’ve more than doubled the storage capacity under our kitchen sink, and I can easily access anything I need quickly. Since organizing this space, I have also been much better about keeping it nice and organized instead of just tossing stuff in when I am finished. There is just something calming about opening up the doors and seeing everything nice and organized!
***NOTE*** If you have small children and you store your cleaning supplies under your kitchen sink, please install really strong child safety latches and locks to make sure they cannot access any harmful items such as cleaners, detergents and plastic bags.
