Using hand sanitizer as a back up for washing your hands when soap and running water isn't available is a great way to kill germs and bacteria you may come in contact with. These step-by-step instructions will show you How to Make Hand Sanitizer with only 3 ingredients that you may already have in your home! You can make your own hand sanitizer to use at home or take with you to help combat the flu, Coronavirus and other contagious illnesses.
With the threat of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the CDC is recommending that everyone wash their hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and warm water to help deter spreading of the virus. While washing your hands is definitely the best way to combat the spread of contagious illnesses, sometimes you just don't have access to soap and running water. When soap and water are unavailable, using hand sanitizer to kill germs and bacteria is definitely encouraged. The problem right now is that most stores and pharmacies are completely sold out of hand sanitizer and are quickly becoming sold out of hand soap as well. The good news is, you can make your own of both! Check out my 3 Ingredient Homemade Liquid Hand Soap Recipe HERE to make your own hand soap...it's really natural, smells great and will clean your hands while leaving them soft too! You can also make your own hand sanitizer with only 3 ingredients, and you may already have them in your pantry!

Can I substitute Castille soap in lieu of Aloe vera gel?

Thank you very much for the sanitizer recipe, you can never have enough these days. If more people knew how to make their own supplies, there would be less panic at the stores.

I found this recipe to be very watery and so I added more aloe to improve consistency and tried whisking it too. Still too thin, but I ran out of aloe. I want to switch the measurements (aloe vera 3/4 c) (alcohol 1/4 c)as this would be a better consistency - but would it sanitize as well?

Can’t find the right% of alcohol. Can I use grain alcohol or vodka?
Jessica says
You can use grain alcohol as long is it is a very high proof.
