The front of your home is the first thing you and your guests see when arriving at your home, and has been said to be a reflection of what is inside. I would say that is nuts, but the more I look at the way the front door of my house looked this summer, I think I may have to agree.
This is what our front door looked like most of the summer…minus the pumpkins of course. I love a beachy blue, and decided to paint our door this color at the beginning of the summer. I loved it at first, but after just a week, it the paint started scratching off. That’s on me…I didn’t use a paint that was recommended for doors. That’s how I roll, always breakin the rule and trying to do something different. So, earlier when I said that it’s a reflection of the inside of our home, I simply meant that the inside of our home has been a hot mess all summer. With kiddos home and projects constantly going on (master bathroom makeover, lots of painting and building, and Kate’s room getting a bit of a makeover), that’s exactly what I see when I looked at the front of our house…weeds in the landscaping, old faded pillows on my chairs and the door with all the scratches and too bright paint. It had to go. I am vowing to get my home in order, and it’s all starting with the front door!
And this is what I’m going to use…Modern Masters Never-Fades Front Door Paint. Yep, gonna follow the rules this time and use the right kind of paint!
The paint went on so easily, and it took me 3 thing coats to achieve the perfect color. I covered the door hardware with painter’s tape, but didn’t do a great job, so I’ll be buying new hardware, which I was planning on doing anyway since ours was in really bad shape.
It was kind of hard to take a picture that would do the painted door justice because of the storm door, so this is one with the storm door open.
And this is how it looks now with the door closed! I am absolutely IN LOVE with the new look!
The front of my home actually feels pretty and put together now, which has really motivated me to get it together inside as well! So what do you think…do you like the old door or the new door?
Modern Masters provided me with the paint to review in an honest way, and I can honestly say…I love it!
