Hello Everyone! I'm so sorry its been several months since I have been able to visit here at Mom4Real. Thanks Jessica, for letting me share this recipe. It's one of my fave go-to snacks...a super healthy Green Pea-Sesame Hummus Recipe!
Yep, it's healthy. But, I figure if you eat it with a bunch of
Garlic Pita Chips you can get your junk food quota in, too.
I have something funny to share.
Every week, I host a weekly series at The Everyday Home
called Tasty Tuesday. Last week, I featured one of
my family's favorite breakfast foods.
Homemade Sausage Gravy and Biscuits.
The title of my post was
"Homemade Sausage Gravy: It Ain't Purty!"
When I am planning a recipe and a blog post, the first thing that
comes to mind is "this is one of my fave recipes and I want
to share it with everyone."
In the future, I think it needs to be.... "this is one of my fave
recipes and I want to share it with everyone and hope it
photographs well."
Last week, I presented a great recipe - but let's face it folks.
It was Greige. Griege Food is NOT pretty!
There is no color.
So this week....
Color, Baby!
But, I promise there is a ton of flavor, too.
My grandson said it looks like his sister's baby food, but he said it
was good. So, there you go. Straight from an 7-year old.
But, hold on tight, folks. This recipe is a tough one.
As in "lock the door, grab the apron, put your hair up in a pony -
and prepare to cook" tough.
(total exxageration!)
Here are the ingredients...
(minus the tahini paste which was laying by the sink)
Grab a pad and pencil, because here comes the "cooking" part...
Blanching frozen peas.
It's like Julia Child epic cooking, huh?
3 minutes in boiling water with a tablespoon of butter and a pinch of salt.
Drain, then pour cooked peas in a food processor...
Add all the other ingredients, give it a whirly-whirl and let
the magic begin. Creamy green peas, garlic, sesame flavor,
cilantro, olive oil... it all comes together and creates an
amazing healthy and flavorful snack.
I served it with Garlic Pita Chips, but its also good when served
with veggies.
Next month, I will flip through my handy-dandy recipe card file
and see if I can find something between Greige and Baby Food Green.
Promise.
To print the recipe, just right click the photo below and print!
If you get a chance, check out my post from yesterday...
Crispy, Iron-Skillet Potatoes and Onions
There's also a recipe for a fab Homemade {fructose free} Ketchup.
In case you're interested. :)
See you next month!
xxoo, Barb
