Y’all know I love using baking soda to clean our home as often as possible! Arm and Hammer Pure Baking Soda has been a staple in my life for as long as I can remember. My grandmother used it to clean and deoderize her home, my mom followed her example and now I use it in so many ways too! It’s an amazing grease buster, deoderizer, stain lifter and so many more things! Did you know there are over 100 uses for baking soda? Crazy, right? Today, I want to share my three favorite ways to use baking in our home along with a super fun video treat for you straight from Martha Stewart herself!
One of my favorite things to make using baking soda is my own sink cleaning scrub! I combine 1 cup of Arm and Hammer Baking Soda, 3 tablespoons of liquid castile soap and 15 drops of lemon essential oils. I store it in a glass container.
I simply dampen a cloth, dip it in my sink scrub and gently scrub my sink in circular motions. This amazing mixture won’t scratch your sink, and the ingredients together combine to clean and deoderize any sink or bathtub with minimal chemicals!
We have pets, so keeping our home smelling fresh and clean can be a challenge. Once a week I sprinkle baking soda on our rugs and carpets and leave it for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes is over, I simply vaccum the rugs and carpets. The baking soda absorbs and banishes the odors! You can also add essential oils to the baking soda and mix very well if you want to add a little scent!
I only use baking soda, water and vinegar to clean my oven and stove top…nothing else! For oven spills, I simply sprinkle on baking soda and gently scrub with a wet cloth. The baking soda won’t scratch your stove, but releases burned on food and liquids. For my ceramic stove top, I do the same, and if something is really hard to remove, I may spray a bit of vinegar on the baking soda to help lift the stain. Works like a charm every time!
See…the oven is all clean, and smells fresh too! I won’t use harsh chemical cleansers in my oven…there is just something about spraying chemicals where my family’s food is prepared that bugs me.
Baking soda really is such a great item to keep around your home…I use it in so many ways, and can’t wait to find even more ways to use it!
