    Dollar Store Silver Platter Turned Hanging Chalkboard

    by Jessica 22 Comments

    ]
    I am chalkboard crazy!  Love them...I adore leaving notes around the house, or being able to write a beautiful quote to share with my family and friends.  Last weekend, I stopped at the Dollar Tree to pick up some candle sticks for an upcoming project, and ended up buying this silver platter.  Yep...just $1.  It's not aluminum, or at least it doesn't feel like one of those flimsy aluminum foil pieces.  It is actually very sturdy, so I thought...hmmmm....chalkboard?  Of course!
    I meant to take a picture of it before I painted it.  I always do.  But, there I was with my finger on the trigger of my favorite chalkboard spray paint, and I remembered to grab my camera...figures!
    So, I spray painted it with 3 coats of chalkboard paint...ummm...love, love, love it!  I am now thinking of doing some kind of wall gallery that includes some of these!
    This one is going to my shop/booth along with my sweet little desk.  I'm a little sad about letting it go now that I have painted it, but I have had a few inquiries about it already, so ...
    Let me just say, since finding chalkboard spray paint, I have been able to do so much more!  It's one of my favorite products out there!

      This is great! I didn't even know there was such thing as spray chalkboard paint. I'll have to be on the look out. Your desk in the corner is adorable by the way.

      I want to know what you have over the MAson Jar to make it look like a cute little lamp. My daughter is using vintage Mason Jars on the table at her wedding reception for flowers and candles.

      I've seen the chalkboard spray paint, but haven't tried it yet. I think you've sold me on it! It looks like it has a nice smooth finish. Love your tray!
