There are quite a few renovations and changes going on in our home right now, which means lots of things are being moved around. Just a few days ago, I was moving one of my favorite glass lamps and accidentally bumped it against a table…it shattered. My heart was totally broken. I took my old lamp out to the trash can and decided to hit a few thrift stores and see if I could find something to replace it. I was pleasantly surprised when I found a nautical vase wrapped in rope…I immediately thought of my old lamp base and decided to try something. I am so excited to show you how I used this!!!
Here is the nautical vase I found. It’s cute all by itself, so I brought it home! I only paid $4 for it!
I dug the old lamp parts (minus the shattered globe) out of the trash to see if it would fit down in the vase…it did! I tucked it down inside cord and all, and let the cord come up and out of the top of the vase.
I applied some E6000 industrial strength adhesive to the top of my vase to hold the lamp parts in place. It dried overnight and then I placed the old shade on it.
Now it sits right next to our sofa where I read! So cute, right? I was so sad about breaking my favorite lamp, but now I think I like this one better! It has a little more character, and fits perfectly with our living room decor! I love finding things at thrift stores and giving them new life! This may just be one of my favorites so far!

Love it. I want to make light fixtures out of some pretty wine bottles. Any ideas? I have some Coconut Moscato Wine bottles that are about the color of your Nautical Vase/Lamp. I want to find a use for them. They are too pretty to throw away.
Thanks, Bonnie! I actually do have an idea. I made a cute lamp using a inexpensive light kit from Lowe’s or Home Depot. Here is the link…
