A Step In The Right Direction

I am going to get a little personal here today. One of my favorite things in the world is sharing photos of my home, recipes and cleaning tips with you, but if you look really closely, there is always something missing...me. I mean, you definitely get my personality in my writing, and all of the photos and ideas that I share are real and are mine, but you don't really see me physically...just my home.

I recently started sharing some videos here on the blog and promised myself that in 2017 I would not just film everything from behind the camera, but put myself out there too. I made a promise, but yet I kept finding myself still hiding behind the lens. Here's the thing…I'm 5 feet tall (yep 5'0), I love carbs, and I need convenience. I'm always busy writing, photographing, editing, researching, brainstorming, and running my family and home. Add in the fact that I don't love exercise, and that I have a 41-year old metabolism that's slowing down, and you have a recipe for disaster! Specifically, I now have 20 – 30 unwanted pounds sitting in my midsection.

[This is a rare photo with me in it, and as you can see I'm hiding behind my purse.]

Previously I had tried a few cleanses, but they are just that...you cleanse your body, but as soon as it's over, the weight comes right back. And it's sooooo hard to stick to crazy fad diets for too long. What finally has pushed me do something is an email from the Rachael Ray Show I got a few weeks ago asking if I would like to shoot a video for them...starring me. Ummm...of course I said "YES!" but then the panic immediately began to set in - I would have to be in front of the camera. I started going through a list of things I could do to make myself appear thinner for days. I thought about wearing all black, pulling my hair back, wearing Spanx, and ensuring I strategically positioned myself behind the kitchen island. All this just to try and appear thinner – so I decided that if I was this stressed and worried that it was high time I do something real about it!

After doing my research, I've chosen a program that has really worked for other women my age. It's convenient, offers portion control, balanced nutrition, frequent meals, AND I can still have carbs - I'm trying Nutrisystem's Uniquely Yours, Lean 13 program!

I've already signed up and last week I received my first program products and was really pleasantly surprised.

I'm not going to lie, I was a bit nervous about how the foods would taste. Everything I have had so far has been great and super filling. I love the Nutricrush bars the most! I'm shocked at how full I feel after having one. The best thing for me so far has been the convenience of it all. I can grab breakfast on-the-go while I take Kate to school, have a shake while I'm working, stop and enjoy a quick lunch, grab a snack when it's time to pick Kate up from school, enjoy a well rounded dinner, then I can even have a snack in the evening. I get to eat and not feel guilty...it's divine!

I am actually really excited about continuing the program and feel great after just a few days! I'm finally taking a step in the right direction for my health and happiness. I'm going to go ahead and start sharing more of myself now and will share my journey along the way too! I hope that if you are struggling with the same issues as me that you take some time to reflect and decide to do something to help push you in the right direction! Let's do this together!
