You are probably wondering why in the world I would wish my mom a Happy Father’s Day. Recently, Angel Soft asked me what Father’s Day means to me. It brought up a lot of emotions because my mom played the role of mom and dad for me. Growing up with a single mom wasn’t always easy. In fact, it was pretty tough. I remember being envious of some of my friends because they had both a mom and dad at home. Isn’t that what every child thinks is the perfect family after all? Looking back now, I wouldn’t change a single thing. Not one. My mom was hard working, loving, a bit of hippie, and so much fun! She worked long hours to provide for my sister and I with little help from others.
My mom taught us to be strong, independent women. She taught us to take chances, stand our ground and to love with our whole hearts. She showed us what unconditional love was and encouraged my us to follow our dreams. I grew up being able to tell her every thing and still can.
She’s the most loving grandmother ever! She loves her grand babies so much, but still treats my sister and I like her babies. She is an amazing woman and the best father this girl could have. I don’t feel like I missed a single thing now that I am an adult and look back…she shows us more love than a million fathers could. So, Happy Father’s Day, Mom!
