Creating a Comfortable Home with Aprilaire

This post is sponsored by Aprilaire.  I was compensated for reviewing their products.  All opinions are 100% real and totally mine!I am a long time allergy sufferer.  During the summer, the moisture and humidity have me feeling clammy, sneezing, and my eyes water constantly.  Then, the winter comes and I feel like my entire body gets completely dried out.  My skin is dry and itchy, my eyes dry and itchy, and my throat feels dry and itchy...notice a pattern here?  It's a vicious cycle...one that I don't enjoy.  Recently I was asked if I wanted to try out some products from Aprilaire that may help put a stop to the madness, and create a comfortable home environment for myself and my family.  I was immediately interested.  I had no idea that a line of products totally dedicated to making your home environment more comfortable existed!  I agreed to allow Aprilaire to send two technicians to do an air quality evaluation in our home, and what I learned was amazing!

I started by filling out a Home Comfort Assessment.  I was shocked at how many boxes that I ended up checking!   The one that struck me the most...besides all of my allergy issues, was the question about if odors tend to linger in our home.  I know that probably doesn't sound like a major problem, but it drives me nuts.  I feel like any smell in our home just lays in the air and it's so stuffy!  Sometimes it hits me like a wall if I walk into my home after being gone for a bit.

I filled out the assessment while they climbed up into my attic to inspect my system.  They also placed a small meter in my living room to gauge the humidity level and did a number of other evaluations.  One of the things they pointed out were the vents in my ceiling, and the dust on them.  They asked me if felt like no matter how often I dusted, did it always seem like there was more...yes!  It does!   We sat down and they asked me some different questions that were relative to the assessment, and we came up with a plan together.  They recommended a Whole Home Air Cleaner which can help rid your home of dust, dust mites, pet dander, mold spores, pollen, bacteria and viruses, smoke and more.  For the dry winter season, they recommended  a Steam Humidifier which will help with my family's dry noses, cracked, itchy skin, and sore throats.  It will also help prevent chipping paint and plaster and splitting or cracked wood floors, furniture, trim and molding.  For the steamy summer months, they recommended a Dehumidifier which will help prevent clamminess and sleepless nights, moisture buildup in walls and doors, and the best thing ever...allow us to save energy by getting rid of the extra humidity in the air that causes us to turn our thermostat down those extra few degrees because it "feels' hotter.

They explained that there will be no need to change out the filter where the intake is any longer, which is something I have had to do every 2-3 weeks.  The filter will only need to be changed every 6 months, where the actual Air Cleaner is.  I agreed with all of their recommendations, and they explained the installation process.  Truly, I cannot wait for them to come!  I am so excited to be able to live more comfortably in our home!  I am hopeful that it will help with my family's allergy issues, and all of the crazy itchy skin!  I look so forward to walking into my home after being gone for the day and breathing in clean, pure air instead of being hit by a wall of thick stale air!
