Hey there Mom 4 Real friends! It’s Chelsea from Making Home Base, back again to share another fun craft!

Summer just makes me think of the beach. How about you? Can’t you just smell the salty air and feel the sand between your toes? Heavenly. We’ve been fortunate enough to spend a few years living close to the beach and I just adore it. So much so that it’s been inspiring a few of my projects. You can see that in my Nautical Wreath or my Sisal Rope Coasters.

In the spirit of summer and the beach trips we anticipate making I wanted to share my Beachy Mason Jar Terrarium.

MY LATEST VIDEOS

This project came about because of two things. I love terrariums and I never know what to do with the pretty seashells and seaglass we find on the beach. Truth. So…this ended up being the perfect way to display those seaside finds and I’m in love. It also cost next to nothing. Which is always a huge bonus!beach mason jar terrerium

Here’s what you’ll need. A mason jar, some sand, some beach finds (I used seaglass, seashells, and some driftwood). Optional: washi tape, chalkboard paint to paint the top of your jar, and ribbon for embellishment (not pictured).beachy tererrium

The assembly for this is very easy and there is no perfect way to do it. I filled my jar about half full with sand. Then carefully placed my seashells trying not to disturb the sand too much. After everything was places I lightly shook the jar to settle the sand. beach terrerium

Now, to dress up the jar I painted the top with chalkboard paint and wrote on top which beaches they came from. In this case it was, Hawaii. Ah, Hawaii. We used to live there. It was amazing. I miss those beaches so much…

I also wrapped a little washi tape around the rim.

And just because I love this new crocheted ribbon, I added a piece of it to my jar. So pretty.

Isn’t it a fun way to display some of your beach treasures? I’m interested, what do you do with your beach finds?

Happy summer!

Thank you so much, Chelsea!  I think you are truly amazing!!!

I love this idea!! Our poor little shells usually end up in a ziploc somewhere and never get used, this is great :)
