This post was sponsored by Michael's...all opinions are absolutely, 100% mine! Can you believe summer break is almost over and it's time to go back to school? I have to be honest, I get a little sad, but a lot excited around this time of year. It seems that the lazy days of summer zap the creativity around here. When we get that back to school letter in the mail, it seems to come back in full force. Kate and I both get super excited about organizing and creating her homework space. I think it's extremely important to provide your kids with a fun and creativity inspiring space to do their homework!
Thanks to Michaels, our Homework Station is bursting with color, supplies, and creative inspiration!
Let me show you what we used to create our Back To School Homework Station...
We corralled most of her supplies in one place using this desktop carousel. I love this carousel, because it holds her markers, pencils, gluesticks, scissors, and everything else she needs on a nightly basis in one place. It turns so she doesn't have to get up to look for any supplies she may need. It's super cute too with a place for a photo and little drawers at the bottom that hold smaller items like earphones and jump drives!
I wanted to add something fun to the space that says CREATE, so I grabbed some beautiful scrapbook paper which we cut and pasted together to "create" this super cool banner!
We hung it across our chalkboard that used to be a mirror!
Kate loves art projects, so our deal is that I will always keep paints and canvases available as long as she does her homework with no fussing...works like a charm!
I grabbed a few decorative shoes boxes to store paints, and we use mini cupcake wrappers to hold our paints for easy and inexpensive cleanup!
There are lots of projects to do throughout the year, so we stocked up on our favorite go to diorama supplies, Creatology Project Bricks. These things are amazing! They are made out of styrofoam, and can be cut and glued with Tacky Glue to build just about anything your kiddos can dream up!
We added a cork board area beside the chalkboard to pin her latest work as well as spelling words and anything else we need to remember. These cork board squares are perfect if you don't have a ton of space. You simply stick them to the wall using the adhesive squares provided in the pack. You can even cut the squares smaller if you like!
Kate and my niece, Maddie, were eager to try out the new homework station, so I let them jump right in...
and low and behold...creativity indeed ensued!

I'm headed back to school for the first time in a while this fall. Is it awful if I make myself this awesome homework station? You're such a cool Mom! I wish I had had a station like this when I was in elementary and middle (okay, even high school and college)... such a great idea!

The only place I can find the carousel in the UK! Anyone know where I can find it in the US? Shipping from the UK will about double the cost.
Love it!
