Cleaning stainless steel appliances is easier than you think, and this Homemade Stainless Steel Polish cuts through grease, fingerprints, and smudges while leaving your stainless steel clean and shiny too. The best thing...I'm going to show you how to make your own stainless steel polish and cleaner with only 3 ingredients!
I don't know about you, but I expected my stainless steel appliances to stay clean longer than the models I had before them. I mean, wasn't the whole purpose of stainless steel kitchen appliances to make your kitchen look more sleek and clean? My stainless refrigerator seems to constantly have fingerprints, smudges and dust on it unless I polish it correctly. I used to clean it with just a little vinegar and water, and it would clean it for the most part, but it would look dirty again the next day. Then I read that if you want to keep your stainless steel clean, you really need to use something that will remove the dirt and grease from fingerprints, and you needed to polish it. Since I started making and using my own stainless steel polish, cleaning my appliances has been a breeze, and they stay clean and smudge free for so much longer than before! The great thing is that you only need 3 natural ingredients to make your own homemade stainless steel polish and cleaner, and you may already have what you need in your pantry!

Homemade Stainless Steel Polish Recipe
You'll need 3 ingredients to make your own DIY stainless steel polish/cleaner...
- ½ cup of olive oil ( Purchase HERE )
- ½ cup of white vinegar ( Purchase HERE )
- 20 drops of lemon essential oil ( Purchase HERE )
- Clean Spray Bottle ( Purchase HERE )
- Chalkboard Labels - optional ( Purchase HERE )
How to Make Stainless Steel Polish
Add ½ cup of olive oil (any kind will work), ½ cup of distilled white vinegar and 20 drops of lemon essential oils to a clean spray bottle and shake well. The vinegar helps to clean and sanitize the stainless steel. The lemon essential oil can be exchanged for another citrus essential oil, and is used to lift grease from fingerprints and foods. The olive oil helps to polish the stainless steel and leave it shiny and stain resistant.
How to Use Stainless Steel Polish
- Since this polish is natural, you must shake it vigorously before each use.
- Spray your stainless steel appliance with a thin layer of the polish.
- Wipe clean with the grain of the steel using a dry microfiber cloth for best results. You can also use a paper towel or cloth, I just find that the microfiber cloths work best :)

Wow!! I just whipped up a batch and I can honestly say that it works better than any store bought stainless steel cleaner I've ever used...EVER. I used Sunflower seed oil and it worked like a charm. Thank you for this fantastic recipe!!

Works great! Love this alternative to the store bought brands. I can't stand how they smell. This is so much better. I use fractionated coconut oil instead of olive oil. Olive oil can go rancid after exposed to air and light .
