Stenciled Mason Jar Votives

There is just something about spring…the trees are coming back to life, and it’s time to open up the patio once again.  That first time we sit out on our patio until it turns dark brings so much joy back for me.  I hate being inside…I want to breathe in the fresh air and be surrounded by nature.  Earlier this week, we started our spring prep…you know, mulching, breaking out the patio furniture, and buying new plants.  Well, this year, we decided to kick it up a notch and really try to turn our patio into an outdoor room.  We splurged and bought a new set of patio furniture, and I absolutely love it.  Now for the fun part…decorating our new outdoor room.  I tried to think about what I do indoors, and immediately though, candles!  The tricky thing about having candles outside is that you either have to bring them in when you aren’t using them, or they will melt.  So, I decided to take some mason jars I had lying around and make some cute mason jar votives…with a little stenciling of course!

I gathered some supplies…mason jars, DecoArt patio paints, some sticker stencils, and paint daubers.

I love these sticker stencils made by DecoArt…they are so easy to use because they curve with the glass.

I used an old egg carton to hold my paints…

Then dabbed my paint on very thinly with the daubers.  You don’t want to let the paint dry…pull the stencil up while the paint is still wet!

Then let your imagination soar!  I hung one of my mason jars from my tree using some floral wire.

Don’t they look adorable all lined up?  Now all they need are little tea lights or votive candles!

This is my favorite one!  So simple, yet perfect!

These would make such fun Mother’s Day gifts…you could make a set of 3 to give to your favorite momma!

I’ve also included a live demonstration below!
