I’ve been working hard prettying up Kate’s new cottage inspired bedroom. One of the things she requested was a bulletin board to pin her papers and photos to. There was no way I was just going to hang a plain old cork board in such a pretty room…I wanted something special for her…something sweet and girly, but not little girly.
We looked around at a few stores, and saw some really cute “fancy” bulletin boards, but they were quite pricey…like around $50 a piece…not happening here!
We decided to dress up our own using American Crafts Dear Lizzy Fifth & Frolic line of papers and supplies. They had just the right feel for what we wanted to do. Their line matched the aqua dresser with ribbon pulls and the sweater pillows with rag garland I just made for the room perfectly!
We started with a plain old store bought cork bulletin board and painted around the edges. No need to paint the middle, because it’s going to be covered. Next, we laid out some of the paper and supplies to see where we wanted to place everything. We measured and cut our paper so once they were lined up, they would look cohesive and lined up. Once we had our papers cut, we used a spray adhesive to adhere them to the board. Then…embellishing time!
My absolute favorite thing in the Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic line was this sweet garland penant…I’m sure you will see it sprouting up in future projects…isn’t it darling? I layered the garland over this gorgeous crepe paper for the sweetest look.
I used some of their brads to make my own push pins. I simply cut the brads off using wire cutters and hot glued a thumb tack on the back.
Kate’s favorite paper was the this one with the cute clip boards…we laminated this one so she can write notes and lists on it with a dry erase market…how fun!
I used some of their darling tags as push pins as well by pushing the pins we made through the hole at the top…I added a little ribbon for an added cuteness factor.
I think Kate now has the cutest bulletin board on the block…how about you?
I adore the new Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic line! It’s so fun and sweet, and can be used for scrapbooking, cardmaking, and many other fun projects. It is available for a limited time at JoAnn Fabric and Craft Stores for a limited time, so you better grab it up quick!
I received the Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic line to review…all opinions are mine, and quite frankly, I simply adore it!
