I am a gardener at heart. I love digging in the dirt, planting seeds, and watching them grow into something pretty and useful. My favorite part of our family’s garden is our herb garden. I love walking out with my clippers and cutting fresh herbs to add to our meals. Every year I like to add a new herb to our garden, which means seeds must be planted. To help keep track of which herbs are growing where, I decided to use my silhouette and their new chipboard along with some chalkboard vinyl from Pick Your Plum to make some fun chalkboard plant markers…
I started by picking out a design. These cute Assorted Artisan Labels jumped out at me, and I knew they would be perfect. The next thing I did was smooth my chipboard onto my cutting mat and let my Silhouette do her thing.
I repeated the process using chalkboard vinyl next, and simply smoothed the sticky backed vinyl onto the chipboard labels.
I used a chalkboard marker to write the name on the labels and attached them to floral wire to poke into the ground.
How cute are they???
Now, these will not stay outside for obvious reasons…if they get wet, they will not stand up. We are planting our new herb garden seeds this weekend and will be using them to mark the containers until they mature and are ready for outdoor planting!
I am just thrilled that I can cut chipboard with my Silhouette, and cannot wait to make some fun frames and letters for my gallery wall!
