Beachy Blue Bench Makeover

Beachy Blue Bench Makeover

The kiddos are finally out of school, and we are in full summer mode here! Time to get all of that school stuff put away and actually relax! Since you walk right into our foyer, I wanted to clean it up a bit and give it a fresh look! I decided to start with a beachy blue bench makeover…which ended up turning into a little something more…you’ll have to check the end of this post for what else got painted in the process ;)

Bench Before

This is the before…the bench is cute, but kind of meh…not really doing it for me. Add the 8 thousand pairs of shoes, tossed backpack, new golf shoes for Father’s Day and a few winter jackets and you have a complete disaster. Not really a great first impression when someone walks into your home, right? Well…let’s fix that with a little paint…for let’s say…$13.00!

I grabbed a quart of Glidden® paint  in Glidden paint in French Country Blue for my bench. I wanted it to really stand out and say summer!

Isn’t that just the perfect shade of blue? I’m crossing my fingers that it goes on in one coat!

One Coat

I didn’t bother sanding it since I was using the Glidden paint DUO, I simply painted one thin coat on and waited for it to dry…it seriously only took one coat!

Once the paint was all dry, I took it to it’s new place in our foyer.

Now our entry way feels nice and fresh!

Notice anything else that may have gotten a new coat of Glidden paint in French Country Blue? After painting my bench, I decided to give my front door a new makeover as well! I think it really gives the space a fun and welcoming look!

I think what I loved the most about going and picking my color was the simplified palette they had to choose from. I mean sometimes I get so overwhelmed with picking colors when there are a gazillion to choose from! It’s amazing how something so simple as painting a furniture piece or even a door can totally transform a space on the cheap, but with high impact!

Now I’m inspired to do another fun little makeover using paint, and I can’t wait to share it with you soon!

Hi, Jessica ….would you recommend this pain for fiberboard ? Also would like to know the kind of paint to use on my cabinets, they are also fiberboard .
I’ve heard a lot of people using chalk paint because it’s easy to use. Just wondering what kind you would recommend on the cabinets.

    Thank, Connie

Hi, Connie! I actually would…you can get a matte finish and finish it off with a furniture wax for protection if you like. I would use this for just about any painting project I have! Hope this helps…let me know if you have any more questions! Jess
