Welcome to Mom 4 Real! I’m Jessica, and my mission is to show you fun ways to decorate your home without breaking the bank, and how to live life to the fullest! I like to share home decor, DIY, craft, organization, and cleaning ideas along with a recipe here and there…always keepin’ it real and simple.
I am so happy you are here…grab a big glass of sweet tea (or whatever your drink of choice may be), and let’s get to know each other!
First, I am a wife to Matt, and Mom to Cameron and Mary-Kate. I am so blessed to have a family that loves and supports me even if I don’t do the laundry as often as I should :)
I started this little blog about a year and a half ago out of complete boredom. I needed to rant, so rant I did. In the beginning, I covered subjects ranging from getting my children to eat healthier meals and snacks to trying to understand the reason that women and mothers today feel such a need to impress others. That’s where the Mom 4 Real came from. I was tired of trying to keep up, and vowed to just be me. It was instantly freeing! Well, about 4 months into my ranting, I decided to share a craft project here, and that was it…game over on the ranting, sort of. I got such a great response from my little Monogrammed Pumpkin that I decided to share another craft project, then another and another and another!
See, I grew up with a single mother and a little sister. If something in our home needed to be fixed, I usually figured out a way to fix it myself. I have always had a need to be surrounded by pretty things, so I learned early on to get really creative. When I was 16, I made a few dresses for myself and completely covered one of the walls in my bedroom with a collage of flowers cut from my mom’s home magazines. When Matt and I got married, we had no money, so out came the creativity again, although looking back, I can’t believe I actually decorated our home in pink and baby blue…what was I thinking? Now, 16 years later, that creativity has turned into this blog. It is a dream come true for me. I get to fix up my home and treat my kids and share those things with others…it’s so fulfilling!
My favorite part of blogging is showing other women that you don’t have to have a big house or a ton of money…just a little creativity and the courage to try new things. Yard sales and Thrift Stores are no longer ways to get rid of your junk, they are places to find treasures that just need a little love.
I can’t tell you how happy I am that you are here…you have given me the confidence to be myself, and have afforded me the opportunity to do what I love! Thank you for reading Mom 4 Real!
