Last week, the East Coast was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy. I’m not sure how it made you feel, but I felt helpless. I was up in the middle of the night for several nights trying to figure out how I could help. I would love to make a large monetary donation…I’m sure everyone wishes they could. So, if you can’t make a monetary donation, what can you do…what can those of us that are on a budget do to help?

If you would like to help, you must act quickly…can you send some love in the form of sock, gloves, hats, anything to someone in need?
It seems like a small task, but if we all send a little something, it can make a great impact.

Laura will receive all packages and immediately take them to the local hurricane shelter for distribution. Any excess will be given to the other hurricane shelters up and down New Jersey’s coastline.
This is a great time to show your children that they can do something small to help other children too. Get them involved if you can. I know my little girl was devastated by the pictures on television. She had lots of questions, and was scared. She is excited to help, and I think it makes her feel like someone would help us if we suffered a similar tragedy.
There are other ways to help as well. You can make a donation directly to The Red Cross.

And I love that Kristi’s hubby is in the area helping out. That’s been one of the neatest things to see: all the ambulances, electric trucks, and other support vehicles from different parts of the country. Reaffirms how much good there really is out there!

Wonderful idea!! I love how people come together and help each other out. We live in western NY state so we felt the weather but only a bit of power outages. My thoughts and prayers to those in need.
I have plenty of socks to send that are used, clean and in good condition. Are those acceptable? I hope that’s not a dumb question but I don’t have money to send and would love to still help in some way. Thanks for posting this important cause!
