Okay, so I know that I just posted the pics of my craft nook, but I saw some really cute ideas, and decided to switch it up a bit! I really needed some more counter space, so I brainstormed about how to achieve this without spending a ton of money. In the middle of the night, it came to me…we had two closet doors in our garage. I had seen a picture of a door being used as a table top on Pinterest, so I thought…why not? It wouldn’t fit where my white shelf was before, so I flipped the desk and shelf around. Now it fits perfectly! I can just turn my chair around and use my Cricut or sewing machine without moving my computer!!! I also “borrowed” Matt’s tv from the garage so I can ummm…multitask or catch up on current events? I found a sweet little potted iris at Fresh Market that brings a little life into my space. I love gardening, so seeing it on my desk just makes me smile. Finally, I brought in a trellis from my garden to clip some of my current and finished projects to. I love bringing the outdoors in, especially when it is so gloomy outside. My little craft nook feels so much more open now! Who knows how it will look in a week…I have a habit of changing things around the minute everyone else gets comfortable with them!
Which do you like better…before or after?
{Below is my craft nook before the switch}
I have been thinking about posting some pics of my little craft nook for a while, so after being asked if I had a link to my craft space by Jen @ Tatertots and Jello, I decided to go for it! With a teenage son and an eight year old daughter, space is extremely limited in our home, so I didn’t have many options when looking for a place to keep all of my stuff. I started by putting a desk in our breakfast nook, but then somehow all of the craft supplies that I had stored in the garage made their way to the nook as well.
I am a ridiculously organized person, as you can tell. I am also a very visual person, which means that I need to see what I have, or it may as well not exist. You know, out of sight…out of mind. With such limited space, I had to think outside of the box, and use every inch of space to it’s fullest. I modge podged a paper yard stick from Homegoods to the inside of my desk drawer. I keep my Cricut mats, paper cutter, and plastic cutting board here for easy access…plus, the drawer slides out, giving me extra work space. A friend gave me the white shelf that houses my sewing/monogramming machine, cricut, printer, mp3 player, and craft supplies. I bought the rolling cart with green bins at Target for $10, and that is where I store my scrap paper, adhesives, and rolls of vinyl. Oh, and I can’t forget one of my favorite things…my spinning pen/paint brush organizer on top of my desk, guarded by my sweet cat, Pearl.
Now, these are my favorite “things” in my craft space! I made the dry erase board using an old picture frame…you can find that tutorial here. I store most of my ribbon in an old picnic basket. I love seeing all of the colors! I also made the wine cork board, where I pin pictures from magazines, reminders, and recipes I want to try. I keep all of my scrapbooking paper in the polka dot bin under my desk…I had to modify some file folders to accommodate the 12×12 paper. Can you tell that I love bright colors?
You don’t need a ton of space to have a craft area. I believe in making the best out of what little space you do have. I hope this helps inspire someone to look at a small space a little differently, and make a {little} craft nook of your own!
Keep it real!
Jessica
Linking up to these fabulous parties!
Due to having some of my content and posts stolen by no good lazy people who don’t do their own projects, I am sorry to have to truncate (shorten) my feeds. Please don’t hold it against me, and continue reading, because I do love you and want to share my tutorials with you ;)
Love,
Jessica

I hopped over from Fun Stuff Fridays. I love how organized your craft area it. Mine always seem to look like a bomb went off in it.
I’m sucker for organization! The size of the space doesn’t matter, it is what you do with it. Looks great! I especially love Pearl protecting your area. I have two kitty protectors for my space too…and a few canine ones as well :)
I love that craft nook. so amazing. I am stuck in an apartment for right now, so I don’t have my own room but i do have a little space to craft in. It does make it hard to get stuff done because I lose half my stuff that’s stuck in the closet.
I am your in triberr group and tweeted this for you =)
I love your choice of dark wood on the desk with all that white! I also especially liked that there was room for a large cup of coffee – great job, and thanks for sharing!
What a bright and cozy space! Love the colour everywhere!
So organized and so cute! Congrats on the new space!

Nice! I have a “nook” for my crafting/scrapbooking endeavors as well! Yours looks great! I’m HOPING to try to make one of those cork bulleting boards, eventually, once I’ve collected enough corks! (0; In the meantime, love the cat! ~tina

Very cute nook, I’m just now starting to work on my, so your inspiration came to me at a great time. Wow, your cat is so cute, and sitting way up there! Thanks for sharing your craft creativity at Sunday’s Best!
This is beautiful! I love your kitty chilling on top of your desk ;-) The bright colors are my favorite, too – keeps me energized and focused when I’m crafting. Thanks for linking up!
This is inspiring. It shows that even if you crave organization, like colors, and need to have most things visible, you can still have it all.
I love that word, “nook!”

Love your craft nook! Too cute and so organized! I’m still looking for my own little space. May take up the corner of our bedroom where I have my sewing machine, but I need to find the right storage unit for the space. Thanks for the inspiration.
