Vacation = Relaxation?

Vacation = Relaxation?  I’m not so sure.  We have been home from vacation for 5 days, and I still don’t feel “caught up”.  I am really tired, still haven’t put all of our laundry away, and haven’t fixed my hair since we returned home.  I am however, soooo happy to be home!  It is always nice to get away, but by the end of vacation, I am always excited to return to the comfort of my own home, and ready to eat home cooked meals.  This year, we headed to Myrtle Beach for a week.  We had an absolute blast!  Here are just a few activities that we did on vacation…

We rode the brand new, glass enclosed, air conditioned, Myrtle Beach Skywheel.  The Skywheel is a ferris wheel like no other, measuring 200 feet above sea level right on the beach.  I am extremely afraid of heights, but thoroughly enjoyed this experience!  It was a bit pricey, around $50 bucks for the four of us, but was totally worth it!  The view was magnificent, you get to go around 3 times, with limited stops, and did I mention that it is air conditioned?!?  At night, it is really a sight to behold!  It is completely lit up with a constant light show that you can see all the way down the beach.  At the bottom of the Skywheel is Jimmy Buffet’s new restaurant, Landsharks.  The food was great, and it was really nice to dine right on the beach!

The kids had a blast boogie boarding in the ocean!  Cam has been doing it for years, but Kate just started this year.  I am not sure she has the art of keeping her mouth closed down yet.  ;)  The waves were huge this year, and it was quite windy, which made for perfect boogie boarding conditions!
On Tuesday, we spent the day at Murrels Inlet.  It’s about a 15 minute drive south, and is the home of the Marsh Walk.  There are several restaurants right along the inlet, and a place to rent boats and jet skis.  You can take a walk along the marsh, or go fishing.  We usually park ourselves at Drunken Jacks for a bit, and enjoy as many of their famous hush puppies with honey butter as we can stuff in our bodies!  Their hushpuppies are one of my favorite things on the planet, they are just ridiculous good!  At night, Murrels Inlet really gets hoppin, and the Marsh Walk is absolutely gorgeous when all lit up!  This year, we saw a pirate ship that you can  ride, took a nice walk, and spent a little money at our favorite gift shop, The Lazy Gator!  On the way back to Myrtle, we stopped to play a friendly game of mini golf.  Cam got a hole in one and beat Matt by one stroke.  Needless to say, be was quite happy with himself.

On Wednesday, we played golf at Waterway Hills.  This is a great place to take the kids if you want to golf, but not be rushed.  You park, then ride a lift across the water over to the course, which is really cool.  The course has plenty of shade, and the kids played for free with a paying adult!  For $64, the four of us played, which I think is a great deal!  We had so much fun, and laughed the entire time!  I hit the ball pretty well, which is a miracle, since I haven’t touched my clubs in two years.  Cam and Matt both played well, and Kate played when she felt like it.  Golfing together as a family is something I forgot I enjoyed so much.  We will definitely be going more often now that we are home!
We had such a great time, minus the fire alarm going off in the middle of the night on Tuesday, and the crazy college kids who partied in the condo next door until the wee hours of the morning!  Can’t wait to do it again next year!  We are thinking about switching it up next year and heading to Hilton Head!  Let the countdown begin!

Due to having some of my content and posts stolen by no good lazy people who don’t do their own projects, I am sorry to have to truncate (shorten) my feeds. Please don’t hold it against me, and continue reading, because I do love you and want to share my tutorials with you ;)
